The Getting Started Tab can be used to help profile your unique trading and investment style to the appropriate (Level) platform that may be suitable for you. It also includes an explanation of some of the terms and functionality listed in the various platforms and a list of important issues to consider in selecting an online provider.

The Entry Level Tab contains 5 leading online brokers which offer a full range of trading and banking services for entry level traders and long-term investors. The Platforms reviewed include: Schwab, E*Trade, Fidelity, optionsXpress, Schwab, and Scottrade Elite.

The Intermediate Level Tab contains 4 platforms for the active trader marketplace, all of which offer streaming real-time Level II quotes, full or limited direct access technology, complex option trading and advance analytics. Platforms reviewed include: Power E*Trade MarketTrader, Schwab StreetSmart, thinkorswim and TDAmeritrade Apex.
